Vegan Whipped Feta Dip

Creamy and tangy, Vegan Whipped Feta Dip can be used in so many delicious ways. Perfect for your next vegan potluck!

I was browsing TikTok recently and I saw someone make roasted potatoes with this creamy whipped feta dip and I immediately knew I had to make a vegan version of it.

My vegan whipped feta dip is super simple to make but packed with flavor! It’s creamy and tangy, making it the perfect dip for crispy roasted potatoes or simple snacks, like fresh veggies, chips, or crackers. Spread it on a sandwich or dollop it on a salad, it’s incredibly versatile. You could even try turning it into a pasta sauce if you wanted to!

Ingredients for Vegan Whipped Feta Dip

  • Vegan feta cheese. The base of this recipe is a good vegan feta cheese alternative. My personal favorites are Violife, Trader Joe’s, and Follow Your Heart. All three of these brands make their own tasty dairy-free version that would work well in this recipe!
  • Vegan yogurt. This is going to add creaminess to our dip, making it spreadable and dippable. Again, using a high-quality vegan yogurt is key to making this recipe shine. Culina is my favorite brand of vegan yogurt for everything, including this recipe.
    • Make sure you’re using plain and unsweetened yogurt! Nobody wants a sweet, vanilla feta dip surprise at the potluck.
  • Lemon juice. To add some tangy acidity to the dip.
  • Extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil makes this dip even creamier and more luxurious. High-quality olive oil also adds incredible flavor. Our favorite super flavorful olive oil is made by Graza.
  • Garlic powder. Because everything needs garlic.
  • Salt. To taste.

How to Make Vegan Whipped Feta Dip

This is truly one of the easiest recipes in the world to make! There are only two quick steps:

  1. To the bowl of a food processor (or a blender with tamper), add all ingredients. Process until smooth and whipped, occasionally scraping down the sides to make sure everything is evenly blended.
  2. Taste and adjust salt to preference. Vegan feta is quite salty, so you may not need to add much at all depending on the brand you’re using.

Substitutions

If you can’t find plain, unsweetened vegan yogurt, you can substitute in vegan sour cream or certain vegan cream cheeses to achieve the same flavor and texture. Since both sour cream and cream cheese have creamy textures and mild flavors, you can swap them in for yogurt and the recipe will still work just fine.

If going the cream cheese route, I’d recommend Kite Hill’s cream cheese. It has a nice, smooth consistency and a pretty neutral flavor.

Sarah’s Recipe Notes

Different brands of vegan feta and vegan yogurt have different salt contents, so just be cognizant when making this recipe! Salt is always added to taste, so make sure you taste as you make in order to get this recipe exactly how you like it.

Serving Suggestions

This dip can be served in so many ways! Here are some things you can try it with:

  • Spread on a platter and top with roasted cherry tomatoes, crispy garlic potatoes, braised cabbage wedges, or a whole roasted head of cauliflower.
  • Use it as a dip with crudités, pita bread, crackers, or chips.
  • As a spread on sandwiches or wraps.

Additionally, you can top your vegan whipped feta dip in a bunch of fun ways.

  • Garnish with fresh herbs such as mint, parsley, or basil.
  • Sprinkle with chopped nuts such as toasted pistachios.
  • Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil (we love the Graza Drizzle EVOO) or a plant-based honey alternative.
  • Add a little bit of heat by shaking on some red pepper flakes.

Storage

You can store your whipped feta dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces vegan feta cheese see notes for recommendations
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened plain vegan yogurt or about 5-6 ounces
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • The dip may have warmed up a bit during preparation. It can be served right away but I recommend letting it chill for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Vegan whipped feta can be enjoyed as a dip or spread, but I also love to use it as a cool and tangy base for roasted or braised vegetables. (See notes for my personal favorites.) To do so, spread the whipped feta on a serving platter and pile roasted vegetables on top. Garnish with fresh herbs (such as chopped parsley), chopped nuts, pepper flakes, and an extra drizzle of good extra-virgin olive oil and enjoy.

This is yummy. It’s tangy and creamy and everything I was missing for potatoes. Where I live, vegan yogurt is hard to find unsweetened and unflavored. So I subbed coconut cream. Worked well and turned great!

So good!!!! We just made for the first time planning on eating like a bit of it tonight but it was so delicious and we ended up eating the whole thing. It tangy and fluffy and light and compliments the spicy crispy potatos so well. Definetly going to be a staple from now on. Thank you so much Sarah!
